Last Friday morning of Labor Day weekend, we got the call every business owner knows: "We need materials NOW, and our contract depends on it."

The challenge? Our customer was in Fargo, ND—8 hours from our Green Bay facility. The timing? Start of a holiday weekend when our team was already off after working their "four tens" schedule all week.

My wife Amy and I were literally about to put our boat in the water for our traditional Friday "business meeting" (aka fishing trip) when the phone rang.

Here's what happened next:

• Called Ken, our previous owner who embodies our "do whatever it takes" mentality

• His response? "I'm all in."

• We loaded the truck with resin while Ken got ready

• That evening, Ken delivered the materials to Fargo
